MUNDUS ACP II A partnership of 20 Higher Education Institutions from the European Union and the ACP Countries

The Erasmus Mundus Programme

The Erasmus Mundus 2009-2013 Programme is a cooperation and mobility programme in the area of Higher Education, implemented by the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA). In case of the Erasmus Mundus Action 2 – Strand 1 (EMA2 – STRAND 1), under which the MUNDUS ACP II Project is being developed, the management is carried out under the supervision of the Directorate General EuropeAid (DG Aidco).

EMA2 – STRAND 1 main goals are to promote the European Higher Education, to encourage the reinforcement and improvement of students’ career perspectives and to favour the intercultural understanding through the cooperation with third countries, in harmony with the EU external policy objectives, in order to contribute to the sustainable development of the third countries’ Higher Education. This strand includes partnerships between European and third countries’ Higher Education Institutions, exchange and mobility in several Higher Education levels, and also a scholarship system.
 

The MUNDUS ACP II Project

The MUNDUS ACP II Project is the MUNDUS ACP Project renewal which implementation began in the 2010/2011 academic year. The Project comprises European and several ACP Countries' Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and HEIs Associations, and was implemented within the framework of the Erasmus Mundus, Action 2 – STRAND 1, Lot 15, ACP Countries.

Among this initiative’s main goals, one can point out:

  • The mutual enrichment and a better understanding between Europe and the ACP Countries, through the exchange of people, knowledge and skills at Higher Education level;
     
  • The increase of international cooperation between European and ACP Countries’ HEIs, thus contributing to foster the socio-economical development of this region;
     
  • The promotion of transparency and recognition of studies and qualifications at an international level.

As a way of reaching these goals, this Project foresaw 211 mobility flows divided into 3 cohorts:

3rd Cohort (opened until 15th December 2013)

For the 3rd Cohort (opened until 15th December 2013) the available scholarships are as follows:

  1. Master and Doctorate students from partner ACP institutions willing to develop their activity in an European Partner University.
     
  2. Academic and Administrative Staff from Europe who wish to develop their activity in an ACP Partner University.
     
  3. Academic and Administrative Staff from ACP institutions who wish to develop their activity in an European Partner University.

According to the Guidelines of the Erasmus Mundus Programme, the mobility flows within the scope of this Project are possible in the 16 study fields.

The selected applicants of this Project will receive a monthly scholarship, according to the type of mobility they will carry out.

2nd Cohort (already closed)

For the 2nd Cohort (opened until October 2012) the available scholarships are as follows:

  1. Master and Doctorate students from partner ACP institutions willing to develop their activity in an European Partner University.
     
  2. Academic and Administrative Staff from Europe who wish to develop their activity in an ACP Partner University.

According to the Guidelines of the Erasmus Mundus Programme, the mobility flows within the scope of this Project are possible in the 16 study fields.

  1. Students (Master and Doctorate) and Academic and Administrative Staff’s mobility from the ACP Countries willing to develop their activity in an European Partner University.
     
  2. Academic and Administrative Staff from Europe who wish to develop their activity in an ACP Partner University.
